The Power of a Lie
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 ¶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
You believe a lie, and you die. Maybe not physically, immediately, but spiritually, you lose life, and separate yourself from God to the degree your life is based upon a lie. Notice how Satan works here. He always opposes the Word of God, both the Logos or written Word, or more emphatically it seems, the Rhema, or directly spoken Word from God, specifically for your life.
The question is: Who’s your daddy?
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Ro 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
If you claim that God Almighty is your Father, you will discover truth, and truth has a name: His name is Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life.
If you think that you are smarter than Satan, and that you can handle life on your own, you become like Eve. God said something, Satan presented what seemed like a better plan, and with it I am sure he presented all the emotions of pleasure to come, (it was pleasant to the eyes,) and the strong desire for empowerment and wisdom (a tree to be desired to make one wise). And not understanding that that any amount of wisdom or fulfillment, ultimate empowerment comes only from God Almighty, she yielded to the strong suggestion, and ate the fruit.
It cost her and her children their lives, and brought literal hell on earth.
So, before I come down too hard on Adam and Eve, what strong suggestion are you facing today. What strong emotions are attached to it. What price are you willing to pay for truth, freedom, love, and holiness today. Maybe it is some item that you MUST have, but cannot afford: Let it go! Ask God for it, and don’t abuse your credit card, to get now, what will cost way too much, later. Maybe it a wrong relationship, that looks good, but you see problems with the fruit of the persons life: Angry outbursts, inconsistencies in their character, that you long to overlook, because they seem like Mr. or Mrs right for you. You have been alone so long, surely God understands, right? Or maybe it is a career choice, or choice of academic pursuit, that seems so glamourous presently, but deep in your heart there is a gentle itch that something is not right with your choice.
The Lie: designed to get you off track and out of the will of God, rendering your life of little or no eternal impact.
I speak from experience and pain. God spoke to me about my choice of academic pursuit, to not take engineering and my robotics degree. Yet, I fought my way through, struggling all the way, and only worked at it for a year and a half before realizing that although engineering is a tremendous course of study and need in the earth, it is not what I am personally called to. In many ways, a waste of 7 years of my life.
I am presently in the center of the perfect will of God for my life, after much sacrifice, tears, and soul searching. Financially, it has cost me everything, but in light of eternity, I have counted the cost, and know Him who I serve..

‘Father God, I come to you today, committed to your Fatherhood. Reparent me in the image of Jesus. Where I have gone astray, and based any area of my life upon lies, please show me, and give me the courage to make the life changes I need to, in order to follow you. Reveal Jesus, reveal truth to me, and show me the steps of obedience I need to take, to make my life count for eternity, in your name I pray, Lord Jesus, Amen!’
