Be Careful little ears, what you hear
Jesus said these words, about teaching that we hear:
Mark 4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
I like King James, but let’s turn up the volume:
Mark 4:24
Amplified Bible (AMP)
24 And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [a][of thought and study] you give [to [b]the truth you hear] will be the measure [c][of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.
There is natural hearing, and then hearing of the heart, where faith lives. Faith only comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Mark 4: 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand;
In the parable of the sower, Jesus taught that the Word we hear, must be understood to bear fruit.
In this parable, He clearly explains that we need to press into the truth we hear, and to the very measure we press into the truth we hear, will be the exact measure of virtue and knowledge given to us.
Which is precisely why I am currently enrolled in this seminary, awakening brain cells that have been undisturbed in the dark recesses of my mind for many years..
Let’s pray:
‘Father, we long to be the true disciples of your kingdom that bring you the most pleasure, fruit, and glory in the earth. Grant us the time we need to press into your Word, to meditate, study, and understand it in our hearts and lives, that you might reveal, and impart your power, grace, virtue, and knowledge to us. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.’
