Mark 8:22 ¶ And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

There are things that happen in real life, when you minister under the anointing of God that are not simple, cut and dry, principals that we can build black and white doctrine on.

There is a flow of the Holy Spirit, where He leads, and we follow.

I love this portion of Scripture, because I see the humanity of Jesus, God the Son, operating as  many, like us, totally helpless, without the power of God operating in his life.

He knew it was the will of the Father to open this blind man’s eyes, so he began in faith, and prayed for healing. Then like any good doctor would do, he said: ;What is happening? Can you see? What are you feeling?”

The man replied “I see men as trees walking”. Jesus did not give up, or puff up, he simply laid his hands on the man again, for another impartation of the Holy Spirits anointing, and the the man was totally healed.

Rwanda

While in Rwanda in 2009, on a missions trip hosted by Parfait and Michelle Karakezi, we did an evangelistic outreach for pastor Josephine Ngabirano. It poured rain, and we jammed into a small building while the thunder, lightening roared and flashed, and water came out of the sky in buckets!

While preaching, the Lord spoke clearly to me that he wanted to heal someone’s leg.

A dear sister came forward, and we prayed for leg and it was instantly healed, but I had such a burden to prayer for a serious leg injury, so much so, that I stopped the service and repeated this several times asking the crowd, ‘Who is it?’ the Lord will not let me proceed.’Is there not someone here who needs a miracle in their leg?’

I kept repeating it, the burden so deep, the command of the Lord so clear.

It was getting embarrassing, as I stood there with the microphone pleading that someone come forward so that I could pray for their leg.

Finally, in out of the storm, came a homeless man, crippled in one leg, with a tree branch he was using as a crutch.

He had come in out of the storm and he was soaking wet, and his leg was a sight to behold. He had been born with a birth defect, whereby his leg was corkscrewed so that his foot was turned backwards, pointing behind him.

When I saw him, I felt any faith I had, leave. This was going to take a miracle, and only Jesus could do it.

I asked the children if they had ever seen a miracle? Their eyes got big, and they shook their heads.

So, I sat him down on a chair in front of the meeting, and had the children from the choit all come forward and stretch out their hands to pray.
In that sweaty little room, I had the children repeat: Father (Father), please heal his leg (please heal his leg), Now (Now), in Jesus name!
I’m missing a bracket, because the translator had them say it in Kinyarwandan.
Then, it happened!
While I was holding the man’s foot, it began to move! Through hot tears, I saw God unscrew the man’s leg, right in front of us all! His foot was now pointing forward, but his leg was at least 6″ shorter than the other.
So, I explained to the children, that even Jesus had to pray for the blind guy twice, and I’m not that good, so let’s pray again!

Father (Father), in the name of Jesus (In the name of Jesus) we command his leg, GROW (We command his leg grow!)

As we prayed, his leg grew out at least an inch, before our eyes!
We prayed this prayer several times, until the man’s leg was full length. Inch by inch we watched it grow, each time we prayed!

leg grow

Finally, the man was able to stand, without his crutch!
leg stand
As the man and I began to walk together, it was clear that his leg was weak from lack of use, so I realized he needed daily exercise. I asked the crowd, is there anyone here that will walk with this man, every day?

Suddenly, a great man stood up in the back of the room, and silenced the crowd with his words: ‘I will walk with him!”

Everyone cheered!

I learned later, that this great man was the mayor of the town, and he truly did walk with this man until he was strong, then helped him get a job so he could provide for himself. Such great honor!
Don’t know about you, but I have had to pray for people several times, and as I worked among the mentally and physically handicapped, daily, for years. Sometimes, miracles were instant, sometimes, the best I could do was rejoice that the presence of God manifested, and that the person received some degree of comfort from the Holy Spirit as I prayed.1 Cor 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.How I love to move in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and I seek Him, His presence, and His gifts, daily, to meet the needs of hurting humanity, but how well I have learned, that He is Lord, and I am not. These gifts, are exactly that, gifts, given: AS HE WILLS! I am the servant, He is the master.

Yet, I have discovered, He is a lot more willing than people give Him credit for. He loves to be sought, in passion and fire, your frustration and pain the very gateway to your miracle, if you would cry out to God.

rwanda1

Do not let the two greatest thieves: yesterday and tomorrow rob you of your miracle!

His name is I AM! NOW faith is. Today is the day of salvation.

Refuse to be denied, or accept the lie that you need to wait on God’s timing, that He is working things together for your good, while you wait. If you are sick, handicapped, or afflicted, time is not your friend. Each day is more pain.

Time is like a parade, that God can see from the beginning to the end, as He reigns above it all. He is willing to enter time, the moment faith cries out, and He is still a God of suddenlies.

miracles

One touch of His power, changes it all. Today! Seize the day, and demand action from heaven and hell. Get in the face of God, boldly. Your pain has been bold, your sickness insidiously slinking inside of you, sucking your life, strength, and working on your will to fight, to live. Say NO to this devilish deception! Cry out! He is Almighty, TODAY!

‘Father, I refuse to be denied, nor allow this cycle of defeat, death, discouragement, and despair to continue. Meet with me, NOW! Heal Me, show me your will and plan for my life. TODAY! Your name is I AM, and I would meet with you, NOW, in your name I pray Lord Jesus, AMEN!’

The Place of Marah – Bitterness – there is a stick!

Healing from the poison of bitterness… Ex 15:23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. 24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? 25 And he cried unto the LORD; and […]

Healing from the poison of bitterness…

bitterness
Read with me, if you will, these passages of Scripture:

Ex 15:23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.

24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

25 And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

marah

Some have said, that the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed.

Here, we read the account of the bitter waters made sweet, after God showed them a tree, and told them to cast it into the bitter waters, and the bitter waters became sweet.

Ever been broken, battered, shattered, and poisoned by betrayal: bitter?

backstab

I have. Seems to whom much is given, much is required, and true ministry comes out of a pure heart. Satan knows this, and it seems that when the call upon an persons life is large, so are the betrayals and heartbreaks that cause one to know Jesus in the depths of His suffering: His love goes deeper than our deepest pain.

Have you been betrayed?

Jesus knows and understands.

When you cry out to God, He will show you a tree, that we all must find at some point in our life: The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The cross: God’s way of uniting suffering with love.

Georgia Harkness.

Here, where God the Son, laid His own life upon the alter, we call the cross, we discover the divine exchange. He took our pain, our sin, our shame, our punishment, and somehow, supernaturally, as we look upon this tree, and that cross get’s thrown into the bitter waters of our pain and lives, the bitter waters become sweet.
cross cry

We see this illustration again in the book of Numbers, where a plague had broken in upon the people, and they were dying.

Nu 21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

Nu 21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

serpent-moses-bronze

There is healing and purification through the cross of Jesus Christ.

Again, when we look upon the cross of Jesus, with the eye of faith, we find healing. It is this account that we see the medical symbol derived, a serpent on a pole symbolizing healing…

serpant medical

All heaven is interested in the cross of Christ, all hell is terribly afraid of it, while men are the only beings who more or less ignore its meaning.

Oswald Chambers.

Today, I want to pray for you, out of my own need. I have come out of a deep dark season in my life, where their have been many times in the past years places where I despaired of even life itself. Deep betrayals, brokeness, and helplessness, as circumstances in my life, threatened to literally choke the life of God from me.

Yet, I have found the cross of Jesus. An exchange has been made. My pain, for His victory. My sorrow, for His joy. The death of my dreams, for the resurrection power of the living Christ.

cross ray

Truly, it is a divine exchange. It is a miracle, wrought once again, in a human heart, in this case, mine.

Question: How has He set you free from your bitterness…? it would be good to hear your testimony!

Let’s pray:

‘Father, even now my heart feels like hamburger, as I walk forward faithfully to what you have called me to do, emerging from circumstances that have been humanly impossible without your grace, strength, and you revelation to look upon a tree, the cross of my Lord Jesus Christ. Now Father, reveal this tree to those reading this tonight. Do what only you can do, throw that tree into the waters of their bitterness, and make their lives sweet, as you bring again, life out of death, in the mighty and matchless power and name of my Lord Jesus, I pray, Amen!’

The Sure Mercies of David! Cry Out to Jesus!

The Sure Mercies of David Luke 18: 38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. 39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. Isa 55:3 Incline your ear, […]

The Sure Mercies of David

I feel impressed to share again the famous story of a blind man named Bartimaeus:

bartimaeus

We read of it hear in Luke chapter 18, but I need to amplify this verse:

Luke 18: 38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

blind
This is no ordinary story, it is one of deep faith, for though Bartimaeus was blind with his earthly eyes, He ‘saw’ clearly with the eye of faith. He knew Jesus would stop, He knew Jesus would heal, for He understood Jesus, who He was, and what He would do. Why?

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Bartimaeus had heard clearly this word from the Jewish writings, and He believed it:

Isa 55:3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

He knew a prophet had arisen in the land, and that God was with Him!

Surely he knew the stories of Moses, Elijah, Elisha, and of the mighty miracles God had wrought through them, and he knew that God could not lie, and that He had made a covenant with his servant David, a covenant of mercy, open to all who would see and understand the love of God.

He surely had also heard of the mighty testimonies of how the lame walked, the deaf heard, the sick were healed through the touch of this man – Jesus of Nazareth.

This is the story of Blind Bartimaeus, crying out to Jesus as He walked by. This is a sermon I can preach, with passion and power. How Jesus is walking by….

Yet, what was interesting, is what he prayed, ‘Son of David, have mercy upon me!

blind-bart

He lifted up the promise of God, in passion, and anguish of soul, recognizing his moment of eternal destiny, and suddenly, the promise, breathed life into his sightless eyes, for God is never I was, or I will be: His name is I AM!

And NOW Faith is!

Are you desperate enough to cry out to Jesus tonight?

desparate
Will you have your miracle tonight?

It is totally up to you….

Cry out to Him, Now!

“Jesus! Heal me, work in me, show me what to do, reveal Your Power, help me! Take away my pain! Amen!’

Toxin Faith

Toxin Faith

toxic-faith

With all the toxins in the air, water, our food, and talk about lack of nutrients in our diets, we need to be aware, and use common sense. Take a good multivitamin, and don’t eat or drink junk! Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Yet, there is a supernatural component, that only faith can produce. We need to actively trust Jesus, and the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit to negate some of the toxins in the system:

Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
poison-antidote

Let’s Pray: Father, I believe your supernatural power is negating any ill effects from any medicine, additive in my food or drink, or toxin in the environment. If I have drank any deadly thing, it shall in no way hurt me. I believe that Jesus is my strength, and physician, and that He is supernaturally healing and keeping me strong today. Amen!

Healing? Look to Jesus..

Healing
Chris Karen Walsh's photo.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

The anointing, or appointing of the Holy Spirit, upon us as ministers of the gospel, is only God’s power, present to manifest His precious promises.

Healing, was promised, for everyone, long before Jesus came to the earth.

Is 53:4 ¶ Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

He fulfilled that promise in His earthly ministry:

Matt 8: 16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Matthew 9:35 ¶ And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Chris Karen Walsh's photo.

Now, healing is an established fact in heaven, backed up by Jesus own shed blood upon the cross, where He bore not only our sin, but also our sickness.

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, the New is the Old Testament revealed.

Today, in our reading, we read:

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: to the simple.

This was proclaimed by Jesus, before He went to the cross for both our sin, and sickness, and was a fulfillment of the account, where the people of God had sinned, and fiery serpents came into the camp, biting and killing many.

Num 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
Chris Karen Walsh's photo.

So, we see that the people of God had sinned, and firey serpents were killing them. The people asked God and Moses to forgive them, and God sent healing to them. He told Moses to make a bronze serpent, lift it up upon a pole, and that those who looked upon it, should live.

So, the people in their pain and death had to do several things:
1. Realize they had sinned.
2. Cry out to God, and ask forgiveness and healing, in the presence of His minister, Moses.
3. Look upon the serpent upon the pole.

God is the same today!

James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

If you are sick today, you can do the same three things, and you will be healed:

1. Realize you have sinned.
2. Cry out to God, ask Him forgiveness, right here, right now, in my presence.
3. Look upon the cross of Jesus, where He bore your sin and sickness, and you will be healed.

1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Let’s pray:
“Father, forgive me for going my own way, and not serving You. Help me. I look to the cross, where Jesus died for my sin and sickness, and I receive your forgiveness, and healing, NOW, in Your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen’

Cleanliness is Godliness?

Cleanliness is Godliness

Chris Karen Walsh's photo.
Deut 23 14 For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.:

I know, I have heard it preached that this old saying: ‘Cleanliness is Godliness’ is simply a tradition, and is not in the Bible.

For those of us with children, that are definitely not ‘neat freaks’, this is comforting, but there is a difference between messy, and dirty. If the dishes sit in the dishwasher an extra day, the world might not end. Toys on the floor, can become part of life (esp if your children are into Legos!), but then there is dirtiness, or things that are unhygienic. Things like leaving food out, unrefrigerated for instance.

Seems wherever the gospel is preached, Christians teach the culture about clean drinking water, proper hygiene, waste and sewage disposal, and healthy food preparation as a matter of course, raising humanity to a higher level of health and purity.
Chris Karen Walsh's photo.
In 1818, Ignaz Phillip Semmelweis was born into a world of dying women. The finest hospitals lost one out of six young mothers to the scourge of “childbed fever.” A doctor’s daily routine began in the dissecting room where he performed autopsies. From there he made his way to the hospital to examine expectant mothers without ever pausing to wash his hands. Dr. Semmelweis was the first man in history to associate such examinations with the resultant infection and death. His own practice was to wash with a chlorine solution, and after eleven years and the delivery of 8,537 babies, he lost only 184 mothers–about one in fifty.
sanitation
He spent the vigor of his life lecturing and debating with his colleagues. Once he argued, “Puerperal fever is caused by decomposed material, conveyed to a wound. . .I have shown how it can be prevented. I have proved all that I have said. But while we talk ,talk, talk, gentlemen, women are dying. I am not asking anything world shaking. I am asking you only to wash…For God’s sake, wash your hands.” But virtually no one believed him. Doctors and midwives had been delivering babies for thousands of years without washing, and no outspoken Hungarian was going to change them now!

Semmelweis died insane at the age of 47, his wash basins discarded, his colleagues laughing in his face, and the death rattle of a thousand women ringing in his ears. “Wash me!” was the anguished prayer of King David. “Wash!” was the message of John the Baptist. “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me,” said the towel-draped Jesus to Peter. Without our being washed clean, we all die from the contamination of sin. For God’s sake, wash.

‘Father, cleanse us, and help us to live cleanly before you. Teach us dear Lord, in your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen!’
