How to correct your leadership if you get off track

The Flip Side of Words

I just posted a devotional entitled: Leadership, God’s way: governing in the fear of the Lord.

In it, I describe the importance of walking in truth, and submitting our words, to the authority of the Holy Spirit, that will grow us in grace and truth.

Our words are the acid test of our leadership.

Really simple, when we plan and speak something, and it happens, because everyone gets on board, we work together, and it comes to pass, clearly God was with us, backing up our words and authority with His authority, and we are on track.

Ecc 8:4

For the word of a king is authoritative and powerful, And who will say to him, “What are you doing?”

When we operate in God’s authority, God backs us up, and people hear our words and respect and obey them.

The opposit is also true. If we are speaking and commanding things, and they are NOT coming to pass, the problem is always with us, not the people around us, and we need time in prayer and the Word of God to discover where we missed it, and how God would have us, and our organizations back into correct alignment with Him and His plan for our lives and our communities.

Yet, the Bible addresses what happens when people, yes even leaders no longer obey God:

Read with me Jeremiah chapter 9:

Here, in this passage, we see what happens when people go the other direction, they become treacherous.

Jer 9:2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.
4 Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.
5 And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.
6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.
7 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?
8 Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.

Smooth talking liars, determined to entrap you, steal from you, slander you.

Ever know people like that? Ever been a person like that?

All have sinned.. and we all have flesh. Reread my devotion on how to grow as a leader, and change your words to words of truth, and teach your tongue to speak truth.

Repent! Ask God to forgive you, and go a different direction! Choose to tell the truth, and walk with people who do too! Might be lonely for awhile, but there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother, Jesus will walk with you.

Everything will change!

One day at a time!

Lets Pray:

‘Father, forgive me where I have sinned and strayed from You and Your truth. Show me the steps I must take to walk the straight and narrow way of truth, honor, respect and holiness. HOLY Spirit, put Your plans and words in my mouth, and may I ONLY speak these. Remove from me all treachery, bitterness, lies, and wickedness, and people committed to living this way. May my life be changed to reflect Your glory, love and goodness, that I might make an eternal difference in this world with my leadership. I ask this, knowing I am heard and answered, for I ask in Your name Lord Jesus, Amen;
