Proverbs 24 (NLT)
7 Wisdom is too lofty for fools.
Among the leaders at the city gate, they have nothing to say.
As I read this simple proverb this morning, seeking first Jesus and His kingdom, I am reminded of the many wealthy and powerful people I know or have met over the years. Most of them are integrous, wise, wonderful people, yet some are proud, haughty, and do things in their selfishness that amaze me. Professionals addicted to drugs and alcohol, people on thier 2nd or third spouse looking for love in all the wrong places. Leaders trying to implement agendas expressly forbidden by the Word of God, hell bent on making them happen.
Among the leaders at the city gate, they have nothing to say.
Why do they have nothing to say?
Because the true leaders at the gates of every city are the moral leaders of that city. The people of God, who know, understand, and prayerfully apply the Scripture to all the affairs of that city, seeking to implement the love, mercy, truth and justice of God to that region.
Job 28:12 But where shall [b]Wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?
13 Man knows not the price of it; neither is it found in the land of the living.
Why is wisdom too lofty for fools? Because it is not found in the land of the living, it comes from heaven, from the throne of God.
All our academic pursuits, all our knowledge, pwer and money mean nothing, unless God breaths upon our learning, and brings His life into the land of the living….
Father, grant us wisdom today, to know what to do, and how to do it…here, in this life. I humbly ask, knowing I am heard, for I ask in Your name Lord Jesus, Amen.
